The Glasgow River Festival will not take place this year.

The new-look event’s programme for summer 2010 includes:

The Merchant City Festival, which now moves from its September slot, kicks-off the summer festivities from 22 - 25 July. In the heart of Glasgow’s cultural quarter, the festival offers a diverse programme of theatre, music, comedy, film, dance, visual arts and fashion across a wide range of venues with many of the events free.

• Next up is The Glasgow Show, which takes place on 31 July and 1 August in Glasgow Green, the city’s oldest park. With its usual action-packed programme of entertainment and activities for all the family including the Glasgow Show Parade, daredevil stunts and performances; as well as top acts, attractions and displays; this year’s event is expected to draw record audiences.

Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival is the city’s global celebration of the diversity of piping music. Taking place from 9-15 August, the world's best and emerging pipers will descend upon the city for the seventh year of Piping Live! For one week across various venues and outdoor spaces, the festival will showcase the best that international piping has to offer with more than two dozen different nationalities and piping traditions being represented.

The World Pipe Band Championships meanwhile will bring the month-long festivities to a thrilling finale. The Championships have been associated with Glasgow since 1948 and are a celebration of the very best of Scottish music, culture and dance. The event will see more than 8,000 pipers and drummers from across the globe competing at Glasgow Green on 14 August for the coveted title of World Champions 2010.
